UGC and US Army Esports Extend Partnership with Second Event


Tournament organizer Ultimate Gaming Championship (UGC) and U.S. Army Esports have extended their partnership to launch a second event in its Apex Legends series.

The event is called Apex Predator Series: 2nd Strike and will take place from October 12 to 15, 2019. The finals are being held on October 26, 2019.

Like its predecessor, the event will utilize UGC’s competitive gaming platform and see players compete for over two weeks in a format that counts placings and kills to create a cumulative score.

The top 15 teams from the qualifying portion of Apex Predator Series: 2nd Strike will be seeded into the finals alongside U.S. Army Esports to compete for a total prize pool of $4,000 USD.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the U.S. Army Esports again for the Apex Predator Series and continue to generate a buzz around our competitive events with great partners,” said UGC founder and CEO Matt Jackson. “We are constantly improving the technology behind our UGC Esports platform to better serve the competitive player base, and the Apex Predator Series is a true testament to that.”

The partnership between UGC and U.S. Army Esports was established in July, with the first activation coming in the following month. At the time of reporting, it was the first instance of the partners working together, although both groups expected the deal would become a “long-lasting relationship.”

The Apex Predator Series: 2nd Strike will broadcast on UGC’s Twitch channel, with each team’s perspectives being utilized throughout.
