Some of the people on this list are competitive players, and some are celebrity streamers. Many are just as popular for playing other games, though most have made a name for themselves primarily on Fortnite. All of them, however, owe their success at least in part to Epic Games’ flagship title.

20. Best Fortnite Players: NRG Zayt

NRG Zayt is known as a great all-around player, a “Jack of All Trades” for Fortnite. He’s got an impressive command of the game mechanics but also keeps his cool when the pressure of a match would start to affect lesser players. He likes to talk a big game, but can always back it up, and there’s little about his style that you can call a weakness.

He remains a top earner and one of the most talented players in Fortnite. While the rest of the players on this list are better known and more generally successful than him, NRG Zayt is consistently a top-tier player and deserves to be acknowledged as such.

19. Best Fortnite Players: SypherPK

Ali “SypherPK” Hassan is known for two things: teaching his subscribers how to play Fortnite and playing Fortnite exceptionally well. You can learn some of his techniques by watching his “Educational Fortnite Gameplay (Tips and Tricks)” videos. His YouTube channel recently surpassed 2 million subscribers, showing how rabid his fans are to learn how he plays the game.

He is a member of the Luminosity team and regularly earns a high number of kills in the matches he’s in. While he started off making a lot of Elder Scrolls Online content, since his switch to Fortnite, he’s made a name for himself as one of the best players out there.

18. Best Fortnite Players: CouRageJD

Jack “CouRage” Dunlop hopped on the Fortnite bus early enough that he was able to share in the game’s early, meteoric success. He regularly streams on Twitch with other players like Ninja and Nadeshot, and while he doesn’t consider himself a pro at the game, he’s certainly a top-tier talent. At the E3 2018 Fortnite Pro-Am, he and his partner Kenneth Faried placed second.

He currently streams for OpTic Gaming and takes part in pretty much every Friday Fortnite event. He often welcomes his “10-year-old army” onto his streams to heighten the fun and the absurdity of the game. Maybe one day, some of those kids will take his place on this list.

17. Best Fortnite Players: DrLupo

Source: YouTube/DrLupo

Benjamin Lupo, better known as “DrLupo,” is as famous for his charity streams as he is for his amazing Fortnite skills. Though he’s been playing less of the game recently, he’s still earned a spot in the all-time hall of fame. To this day, he still holds the Fortnite ATV Trick Point World Record with 49,256,200 points.

In 2018, he raised $1 million for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital to benefit children with cancer. DrLupo also has around 1.6 million YouTube subscribers, who he regularly creates Fortnite-related content for. You can also watch him play Destiny and World of Warcraft, but his Fortnite videos and skills are where he really shines.

16. Best Fortnite Players: KingRichard

KingRichard is such a promising Fortnite player that Team Envy, a well-known esports franchise, launched their entire Fortnite competitive team on his abilities. Earlier this year, he partnered with Ninja, and together, they broke a new record for duo kills. This effectively launched him into the celebrity esports stratosphere, where he’s been hanging ever since.

While he’s yet to win one of the Friday Fortnite tournaments with his partner, TSM Aimbotcalvin, they consistently rank high, so it’s only a matter of time until they come out on top. KingRichard has been gradually climbing the leaderboards for a while now, so be sure to keep your eyes on this promising player.

15. Best Fortnite Players: psalm

Harrison “psalm” Chang is an American Fortnite player and the second-highest earner in the game behind the 2019 World Cup champion, Bugha. His all-time winnings from total Fortnite competitions is $1,868,800 and will continue to grow as he dominates the competition.

He is a player for Counter Logic Gaming and placed second in the 2019 Fortnite World Cup Solo Finals. He isn’t quite as famous as many other names on this list, as he’s been more focused on professional play than celebrity streaming, but at only 24 years of age, he’s got plenty of time to build a fanbase. Not that he needs the money.

14. Best Fortnite Players: Nick Eh 30

Source: YouTube/Nick Eh 30

Nicholas “Nick Eh 30” Amyoony is perhaps the most successful—and certainly the most popular—Fortnite streamer on YouTube. He’s amassed more than 2,000 wins in his career so far, and even set a world record for squad match kills with some other names you’ll see on this list. Though this record has since been beaten, Nick Eh 30 remains one of the premier Fortnite players.

On top of his pure, inherent skill at the game, Nick makes sure the content on his YouTube channel is unique and engaging for fans. As a Canadian, he keeps his streams wholesome and family-friendly, meaning they can be enjoyed by younger and older fans alike.

13. Best Fortnite Players: Dakotaz

Brett “Dakotaz” Hoffman is known for his near game-breaking sniping skills, which enable him to win oodles of solo matches. His skills are practically considered a superpower at this point, which has helped him gather a huge fanbase on both YouTube, where he has 1.6 million subscribers, and Twitch, where he has 1.4 million followers.

A Fortnite player since the game was first launched, Dakotaz is just one of many streamers who has become nearly synonymous with the game. In May 2018, his view counts began raising quickly, as Fortnite fans were drawn to his relaxed demeanor and the casual atmosphere in his streams.

12. Best Fortnite Players: FaZe Jaomock

Source: YouTube/Jaomock

Just one member of the legendary FaZe Clan, FaZe Jaomock is known as the bedrock of his team. He’s successful for his consistency, in that he can be relied upon to earn a double-digit kill figure by the time his matches end. Even if he doesn’t win, he always racks up a consistently high number of kills.

Source: YouTube/Jaomock

It’s this consistency that has earned Jaomock his position on the list of highest Fortnite kills. Before joining the FaZe Clan, he was considering playing college basketball but was able to transfer his skills into becoming one of the greatest Fortnite players of all time. It’s hard to argue with his numbers.

11. Best Fortnite Players: NotVivid

Source: YouTube/Kappa TV

NotVivd is best known for his efficient gameplay. He can take out his opponents with very little wasted action, which can make all the difference in a hotly contested match. Taking a look at his building skills, he can build a great structure and never seems to waste any materials. Approaching NotVivid while he’s holding up in a fort can spell disaster for almost any player.

Like many of the other Fortnite gamers on this list, he’s also known for his consistently high kill count. He never has a bad match, which means he will eventually wear his opponents down. This ability alone has earned him a spot on our list.

10. Best Fortnite Players: High Distortion

Source: YouTube/Locandro

Along with FaZe, get ready to see a lot more TSM names on this list. High Distortion, aka Jimmy, tends to skip solo games to instead face off in duo matches—and even squad matches—all by himself. While this would be a considerable challenge for almost any player, HD tends to be able to take down larger teams with ease.

High Distortion frequently lands the “20 bomb” for getting 20 kills or more in his solo vs. duo matches. He’s 34, making him one of the older players, but considering his nearly 30% lifetime win percentage and his 100,000 lifetime kills, he’s also one of the best.

9. Best Fortnite Players: TSM Daequan

Source: YouTube/Daequan Loco

Daequan followed the path that many Fortnite players went down, transitioning to the game from titles like Destiny and H1Z1 when it started to pick up steam on Twitch. Since his conversion, he’s not only brought his legendary skills to the Fortnite community, he’s also popularized the “double pump shotgun” strategy, which many other players now emulate.

He is a founding member of TSM and is well known by fans for his charm, his uproarious humor, his hyper-aggressive approach to gameplay, and his memorable catchphrases. He currently lives with two of his TSM teammates, who he collaborates with for streams and other Fortnite-related content.

8. Best Fortnite Players: Mongraal

Source: YouTube/thatdenverguy

Kyle “Mongraal” Jacksond has been an esports professional since the age of 13. Considering that he’s now the ripe old age of 15, that means his success is basically unparalleled in Fortnite or any other game out there. He is the youngest competitive Fortnite player in the world and will no doubt be gracing lists like this for years, or decades, to come.

He’s known for his aggressive Fortnite playstyle, refusing to “let things play out” like campers or other stealth/sneak players. He’s yet another player for FaZe Clan but started his Fortnite career as a member of Team Secret.

7. Best Fortnite Players: TSM Hamlinz

Source: YouTube/Hamlinz

TSM Hamlinz can boast one of the highest win percentages of anyone playing Fortnite at the professional level. Not too long ago, he had a win/loss percentage that was approaching 50%, meaning that he won 1 out of every two games that he played in, despite being just one in a sea of competitors in any given match.

Source: YouTube/Hamlinz

On top of that, Hanlinz has been called “the second-best builder” in the game. This puts him just behind his TSM clanmate, TSM Myth. He found esports popularity well before Fortnite was launched, though, as he was a previously acclaimed player of games like Halo and Call of Duty.

6. Best Fortnite Players: Liquid Poach

Source: YouTube/SLR – Fortnite Battle Royale

Liquid Poach is one of the most dominant professional players in Fortnite. He typically destroys the competition and has caused top-level players to up their games in order to stay competitive. More than that, he’s rallied his team to victory time and time again, bringing the best out of teammates and opponents alike.

Source: YouTube/POACH

He’s made a name for himself by surviving unfavorable odds and pulling victory out of the jaws of defeat. His shots are something rare to behold, and his fanbase is quick to call him the best pure player in the entire Fortnite community. It’s hard to argue with that, honestly.

5. Best Fortnite Players: FaZe Cloak

Source: YouTube/Tensor Gaming

Dennis “FaZe Cloak” or “Cloakzy” Lepore’s rise to fame parallels that of Fortnite itself. He is the captain of the FaZe Clan and is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world. Though he doesn’t have as many fans as some of the other, more famous players, he’s a great utility player for FaZe and his team calls him an “excellent shot caller.”

Not much is known about Cloak’s personal life, but he is known to be just 25 years old. Already he’s earned about a quarter of a million dollars through Fortnight play, so it’s an understatement to say he’s making a comfortable living.

4. Best Fortnite Players: TSM Myth

Source: YouTube/Myth

Like Cloak, Myth is captain of his team. Unlike Cloak, he’s just as popular as he is acclaimed. While YouTube gave him his start, Myth made his home on Twitch. He has millions of followers on his Twitch channel, making him one of the most popular esports players alive today. He’s also one of the youngest, just like his FaZe contemporary.

Source: YouTube/Myth

Myth has given himself the nickname “The Architect” because he’s considered one of—if not the—best builders in Fortnight. So far, he’s earned a cool million from playing the game, but he also gathers income from branding and merchandise deals. Not bad for a myth.

3. Best Fortnight Players: TFue

Source: YouTube/TFue

There’s no doubt that Turner “TFue” Tenney is one of the best Fortnite players to grace a keyboard. He started his esports and streaming career playing H1Z1 and PUBG, but Fortnite was where he found his true calling. At 22, he’s earned a small fortune from the game and has built his fanbase to 6 million Twitch followers and 10 million YouTube subscribers.

Source: YouTube/TFue

But he’s not a player without controversy. Not long ago, he sued his former team, FaZe Clan, claiming that they took too much of his earnings and pressured him to do things he wasn’t comfortable doing. We’ll see what the future holds for TFue and his former teammates.

2. Best Fortnite Players: Bugha

Source: YouTube/Bugha

Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf quickly became one of the most famous Fortnite players of all time when he won $3 million in the 2019 Fortnite World Cup. While this is the kind of achievement that would launch any player to superstardom, the fact that Bugha was only 16 years old when he took home that much prize money seems to add to his mystique.

Source: YouTube/Bugha

While not nearly as popular—yet—as most of the other high-up names on this list, he’s had far less time to establish himself. But the World Cup win gives him considerable name recognition, so you’ll no doubt be seeing a lot more of Bugha in the months and years to come.

1. Best Fortnight Players: Ninja

Source: YouTube/Ninja

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is a Fortnite icon. He’s done more to elevate the popularity and the profile of the game than any other player and has reaped incredible rewards for doing so. Last year, his Twitch channel was watched for a combined total of 226.85 million hours. That’s twice as high as the runner-up sport. On top of that, he has 14 million Twitch followers and 22 million YouTube subscribers.

Ninja is a member of Luminosity Gaming, and consistently represents the company and the world of esports and gaming to the media. He’s appeared on TV with Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres and became the first esports athlete to appear on the cover of ESPN magazine.
