Enthusiast Gaming Invests in Overwatch League Franchise, Vancouver Titans

Enthusiast Gaming Holdings, which is the parent company of professional esports organization Luminosity Gaming, announced that it acquired a non-controlling interest in Overwatch League franchise, the Vancouver Titans.

The organization was previously involved with the franchise through a long-term management agreement with its owner, Aquilini Investment Group.

The Vancouver Titans franchise entered the Overwatch League ahead of the second season as one of eight expansion franchises. The franchise is owned by Aquilini Investment Group, which also owns Rogers Arena and the NHL Vancouver Canucks.

Enthusiast Gaming completed its merger with Aquilini GameCo earlier this month, the parent company of Luminosity Gaming. Trading on the TSXV as ‘EGLX,’ the merged entity is named Enthusiast Gaming Holdings Inc.

“Our vision when we founded Enthusiast was to build the largest, vertically integrated esports and gaming company in the world,” said Menashe Kestenbaum, President of Enthusiast Gaming.

According to Kestenbaum, the merger with Aquilini GameCo and Luminosity was a strategic decision that positions Enthusiast Gaming as a dominant player in the gaming industry. It also unlocks access to Luminosity’s 60 million esports fans and one of the largest esports franchises.

“I look forward to working with our new partners to continue to build and diversify Enthusiast Gaming across the esports, gaming and entertainment sectors,” he added.

As the Overwatch League shifts to a home & away format in 2020, Vancouver Titans will host its homestand events in the Rogers Arena on May 16–17, 2019, and July 4–5, 2019.
