Mohammad Shami says Kohli always gives freedom to his pacers

Mohammad Shami

Mohammad Shami has praised the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli for his attitude. The experienced bowler believes that Kohli gives freedom to the pacers to execute their plans without any fear. Shami stated the Indian skipper will give his input only if the bowlers’ plan fails against an opposition.

Moreover, Shami added that Kohli acts as a childhood friend, and is a down to earth personality. “Virat has always supported and given the freedom to bowlers. He always asks us about our plans first. He only gives his inputs once our plan fails. As far as our fast bowling goes, Kohli has never put us under pressure. It never feels like you are standing in front of Virat Kohli. He acts like a childhood friend,” Shami told Cricbuzz.

The pacer revealed that Virat Kohli loses his cool at times, but showing aggression is an important part of the game. “Sometimes he (Kohli) gets very funny, sometimes he gets aggressive. That we don’t mind. We are all playing for the country. He gives us complete freedom to do execute our plans. No captain will give you so much freedom,” said Mohammad Shami.

Shami also spoke about India’s impressive bowling attack, and stated that they have the bowling lineup to face any team in the world. The 29-year old stated that on a spin-friendly wickets, the Indian spinners will dominate the opposition. In conditions that are suited to seam bowling, Shami believes that India has several pace bowling options to dominate the opposition. The likes of Axar Patel and Washington Sundar announced themselves on the big stage in the past couple of months. On the other hand, pacers like T.Natarajan, Mohammed Siraj have also left their mark on the international stage.

“Be it our spinners or pacers, we have quality bowlers. This has created complications for other teams as to what type of wickets to be prepared for the Indian team. If they give us spinning track, our team is already known for spinners but should there be a seaming surface, our pacers will roll them over,” Mohammad Shami concluded.
