ImbaTV, a Chinese esports event organizer and broadcasting company, has officially launched the first season of its China Dota2 Professional League.
At the same time, the company announced the second season of its China Dota2 Development League, which was unveiled in July.
With the success of the first Development League, ImbaTV aims to help Chinese Dota 2 develop sustainably at multiple levels. ImbaTV will continue to seek out and cultivate young talent from Royal Never Give Up’s second squad, Chinese scene, Royal, which will be replaced by a new team called SAG. What’s more, the top two teams in the first season Typhoon and iG Vitality will be promoted and compete in the Professional League.
The competing teams in the first season of the Professional League are Vici Gaming, Team Aster, PSG.LGD, Newbee, Royal Never Give Up, Invictus Gaming, Keen Gaming, and EHOME. These teams will compete with two undermentioned teams from the Development League for a total prize of 1.5 million RMB ($211,813 USD).
The earliest Chinese Dota 2 professional league dates back to Dota2 Professional League (DPL), which was organized by Mars Media in 2016. In December 2018, the event organizer decided to put together a new league after DPL Season 6 ended. Currently, ImbaTV may be considered its successor.
